We are a non-profit making diving association whose intention is to discover ships that were sunk during the twentieth century.
Our aim is to locate, dive, photograph, research and reconstruct the details that led to the sinking of these ships and to share
our findings to everyones by publishing in diving magazines and broadcasting underwater videos all over the world. Everybody can find
an interest in our works: divers, curious people, maritime history specialists or underwater adventures fanatics.
The articles which follow are the same as those published in French and foreign magazines. New ones are also scheduled and we will
add them to this website after they have been published.
A few friends, all wreckdivers, all having a passion for maritime history and contemporary underwater archaeology, formed in 1995
l'Expédition Scyllias...!
Why Scyllias ? This famous Greek diver was living in the fifth century B.C. and was employed by Xerxes to salvage the
lost treasures from Persian shipwrecks. A statue to Scyllias was erected in the Temple of Diana at Ephesus and his odyssey is related
by Herodotus.
But the lone treasures we get back are underwater pictures and clues which allow us to reconstruct the stories of these ships which
compose a fascinating engulfed museum, a real immersed heritage that we are pleased to present through our video documentaries and illustrated
reports frequently broadcasted and published in national and international media.
L'Expédition Scyllias has scheduled many projects in France and around the world, really innovative for most of them and
strong regarding media.
We are requesting the help of sponsors or patrons who want to support this dynamic team and to join together to these expeditions
aiming to research and investigate contemporary wrecks around the world. A large range of communication and public relations
operations are put at sponsors' disposal and allow l'Expédition Scyllias to propose a return on investment corresponding to
the wishes of the entreprises and companies which faith in us and to other ones which want to join us and promote throughout the world
the popular oceanography and the knowledge of this fabulous immersed heritage.
